About Paul Engebretson aka Front Row Paul

Paul is the grandfather of the MN Music Resistance (MMR). He had the notion to get musicians, music industry folks and music lovers together to fight for his democracy. Thinking of his life like a book, Paul knew he didn’t want his last chapter to be colored by the Trump Administration and their hurtful actions.

Unfortunately, soon after the start of MMR in January, 2025, Paul was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away on March 25, 2025.

Paul Engebretson was one of the biggest music supporters in the Twin Cities. You could always see him at the front row, arms overhead like Rocky. He sang along, he cheered the loudest and sometimes he even sang with the band. Paul was also one of the nicest guys, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Just check out the video below with thoughts and well wishes for Paul, created before he died…

He would have been the first to say, he wasn’t doing it alone, but the Minnesota Music Resistance is the brainchild of Paul Engebretson. We want to recognize it as just one of the many ways Paul lifted us up and made us better.
